Compensation: based on qualifications, Full-Time

The Club:

  • Founded in 1912, Lakewood Country Club is located less than ten minutes from downtown Dallas in the highly desirable Lakewood area.
  • The Club has 1,150 Members, with an extensive waitlist in all categories of membership.
  • The Annual Food and Beverage Sales are $5.5 MM (90% a la carte/10% banquet).
  • 68,000 square feet Clubhouse, which recently underwent an expansion and complete renovation.
  • Coore/Crenshaw 18 Hole Golf Course and extensive Practice Facilities, all of which was completely renovated in 2013/2014.
  • A Resort Style Swimming Pool Complex (three Swimming Pools), built new in 2014/2015.
  • Eight hard thru Tennis Courts, built in 2014/2015.
  • State of the art Fitness Center.

Education and/or Experience

  • Undergraduate degree in business, hospitality management, or related field desirable.
  • A minimum of three years of management experience in the food service business.

Job Summary 

Working closely with the General Manager and F & B Managers who are responsible for the management of the Club’s A La Carte Food and Beverage Operation. This includes, but is not limited to, primarily service in the Mixed Grill, Garden Terrace, Garden Room, Lounge, Pavilion Bar and Wine Room.

Job Tasks/Duties

Manages the strategy and direction of the dining food and beverage services.

Manages food costs and finds opportunities to drive revenue. 

Responsible for management of budget expenses and accurate forecasting,

Responsible for creation of strategic direction to the entire food and beverage team. 

Supervises daily a la carte dining, ensuring consistency in service and Member satisfaction.

Oversees Club operations on a daily basis.

Assists with the management of Club functions and private special events.

Performs the duties of MOD/closing manager and performs P.O.S. end of day functions a minimum of two nights per week.

Attends Food and Beverage and Department Head meetings as scheduled.

Participates in the food and beverage budgeting process.

Monitors the budget and directs corrective action procedures as necessary to help assure that budget goals are attained.

Monitors internal cost control procedures and performs inventories of china, glass and silver.

Assists in maintaining the Club’s Point of Sale system and updating menu items and pricing.

Plans and coordinates weekly training and professional development programs for service staff.

Maintains contact with Members and helps to assure maximum Member satisfaction.

Counsels with other managers and employees about employee grievances and complaints; directs problem correction where possible.

Participates in on-going facility inspections throughout the Club to assure that cleanliness, safety and other standards are consistently attained.

Interacts with Members by answering questions, solving problems, overseeing services and cleanliness and showing the Club facilities to visitors.

Conducts pre-function meeting with servers to ensure smooth, efficient services; assigns server stations.

Ensures that all staff are well-groomed and in proper uniform.

Assures that state and local laws and the Club’s policies and procedures for the service of alcoholic beverages are consistently followed.

Ensures that all server check outs are reconciled and submitted at the end of each shift.

Assist with the opening/supervising of seasonal pool Food & Beverage operation.

Manages service staff to include hiring, scheduling, training, counseling/performance evaluations and terminations.

Monitors labor, evaluates scheduled and actual labor hours and costs.

Undertakes special projects as requested by the General Manager. 

Licenses and Special Requirements

  • Food safety certification
  • Alcohol beverage certification

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Must be able to reach, bend, stoop, stand, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Moderate noise level in the work environment.
  • Must be able to handle hot and cold interior and outdoor conditions.
