Hotel Maintenance Technician

The Hyatt Place Royal Oak is seeking a positive, talented, energetic, creative and highly self-motivated Maintenance Technician to join our team. We are a select service hotel with 123 guestrooms, limited meeting space as well as our bar/ restaurant.

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the physical functionality and safety of the facility coordinating in their daily duties. This includes but is not limited to: guest rooms, public and meeting space,Regus offices, kitchen/ restaurant and heart-of-the-house areas in the hotel’s continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Responding to guest calls and team member work orders in a timely, friendly and efficient manner to assess and repair non-functioning machinery and/or equipment.
• Perform a variety of repair and maintenance tasks including, but not limited to carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, painting, HVAC work and masonry.
• Trash removal and clean up.
• Snow removal and salting
• Maintain the proper use, cleaning, maintenance and storage of all tools and chemicals.
• Record and report completed repairs and items that require further attention to the General Manager
• Handle additional duties as needed by guests or management
• Preventative Maintenance will be performed in each guest room on a Quarterly basis and tracked.

Job Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Hotel and or Customer Service experience preferred.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger, collect accurate information and resolve conflicts.
• Exceptional service skills, with strong ability to foster effective relationships with all levels of staff, management and clientele
• Command of the English language both written and verbal.
