PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION: 

Maintain and operate all building systems in a safe and efficient manner including life safety systems. Respond and resolve all guest requests and emergencies.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND JOB DUTIES:

  •     Complete and record scheduled rounds for all building equipment. Make adjustments and repairs as needed.
  •     Perform preventative maintenance on HVAC equipment as well as deficiencies in guest rooms.
  •     Respond to all routine and emergency calls, determine course of action, and resolve.
  •     Monitor plant systems continuously via Building Management System on the computer. Make adjustments as needed and physically check all abnormalities.
  •     Operate high pressure steam boiler per state law requirements and report all issues to EIC (engineer in charge). Fill out state log books.
  •     Remain on-duty until properly relieved by next shift engineer.
  •     Generate a pass-on report e-mail of all shift work performed and any abnormal conditions experienced during the shift, along with plant status.
  •     Monitor and respond to all fire protection system alarms and troubles
  •     Perform boiler water chemistry tests.
  •     Additional shift work as assigned.
  •     Contact manager and sub-contractors to coordinate work and issues with phone.
  •     Knowledge of fire emergency procedures and duties of all assisting personnel.
  •     Follow all safety procedures including utilization of proper personal protective equipment and adherence to all sustainability procedures.
  •     Follow all lock out tag out procedures.
  •     Perform preventive maintenance on auxiliary equipment and other tasks as assigned.
  •     Maintain all mechanical spaces in a clean, safe, and professional manner.
  •     Assist in the on-boarding of incoming personnel.
  •     Maintain all tools in a safe condition and report all deficiencies.
  •     Assist other engineers and departments as needed.
  •     Additional duties not mentioned above may also be requested by supervisor.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  •     Ability to lift/carry up to 75 lbs.
  •     Stand for length of shift.
  •     Stand, sit, reach, grasp, walk, climb, kneel, squat/bend, push/pull.
  •     Ability to properly operate hand and power tools

SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English.
  • Ability to use computers including but not limited to emails, spreadsheets, and building management systems
  • Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of HVAC systems, motor driven fans, and pumps.
  • A working knowledge of the use of hand and power tools used in operating, maintaining and repairing boiler room equipment, plant systems, and guest room appliances.
  • Basic electric and plumbing skills preferred.
  • Maintain all required licenses per Mass General Laws.

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE /LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES / REQUIRED:

  • Two years of HVAC or other facility maintenance experience desired.
  • Hotel experience preferred.
  • Must be available to work primarily PM shifts, including two overnight shifts on Friday and Saturday shifts during the week.

PAY RANGE:

  • $36.34 - $36.64 per hour.
