Compensation: $34.07 to $34.37 per hour, Full-Time

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION:

The goal of the Housekeeping team is to impress the guests of The Langham, Boston with exceptional cleanliness, thoughtful service and extraordinary attention to details. As part of The Laundry team, The Laundry Attendant is tasked with providing an uninterrupted supply of clean linens for the entire hotel, through the process of sorting dirty linen, washing, ironing, folding and stacking.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND JOB DUTIES:

  •      Conduct the sorting of soiled linen, stain treatment, washing/drying, ironing and folding of bed linen, terry and restaurant linen;
  •      Stack and organize processed laundry to be easily moved to guest floors/storage areas;
  •      Perform daily preventive waxing and lint cleaning of equipment;
  •      Maintain all laundry equipment in good working order and inform Laundry Supervisor, Housekeeping Management or Engineering team of any maintenance needs;
  •      Assist with tracking poundage;
  •      Monitor and maintain the orderly and clean condition of the Laundry room and ensure security and safety of all hotel property;
  •      Help identify substandard or damaged items, assist with treatment, and discard with approval of The Laundry Supervisor;
  •      Report all shortages, damages, and linen availability to The Laundry Supervisor or Housekeeping Management.
  •      Maintain safe work environment in the Laundry room. Follow all safety guidelines and regulations;
  •      Perform additional laundry services when necessary;
  •      Maintain positive relations with fellow Laundry attendants and the rest of Housekeeping team;
  •      Help conduct linen inventories as coordinated by Housekeeping management;
  • Provide service with poise. Greet all colleagues with a smile and according to Langham service standards;
  • Maintain proper and safe usage of cleaning chemicals and solutions. Follow departmental procedures for reporting hazardous materials or conditions;
  • Follow all safety and sanitation policies and Connect sustainability procedures.
  •      Carry out other duties and tasks as assigned by Supervisor/manager.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Physical activities include kneeling, bending, lifting, stretching, pushing, pulling, twisting, turning;
  • Must be able to move objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance;
  • Must be able to move objects weighing up to 100 pounds with assistance;
  • Must be able to push/pull a loaded laundry cart

SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Must be able to speak/read/write English to interact with guests and co-workers as to understand, communicate and accommodate needs and requests;
  • Ability to do basic arithmetic.
  • Ability to perform assigned duties with attention to detail, speed, accuracy, follow-through, courtesy, cooperativeness and work with a minimum of supervision.

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE /LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES / REQUIRED:

  • Working knowledge of hotel/resort housekeeping operations;
  • Prior experience at 4-5-star hotel/resort is preferred;
  •      High school diploma preferred.
  •      Any combination of education, training or experience equivalent to graduation from high school or any other combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

PAY RANGE:

  • $34.07 - $34.37 per hour.
