Job Description

The Accounting Manager supports the Director of Finance in overseeing the hotel’s financial operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. This role plays a critical part in producing accurate reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, and applying hospitality-specific accounting practices. The position is also designed for a motivated professional eager to deepen their expertise in financial reporting, cost controls, and hotel accounting standards. The Account Manager is responsible for overseeing the hotel’s purchasing and asset management functions. This includes ensuring proper authorization and cost control for all procurement activities, maintaining accurate records of capital assets and inventory, and safeguarding the hotel’s resources through effective monitoring and reporting practices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director of Finance in preparing monthly P&L statements, balance sheets, and variance reports in line with USALI 11th Edition. Interpret variances between budget, forecast, and actual results, providing insights for leadership decision-making.
  • Manage daily, monthly, and year-end closing processes. Perform reconciliations to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with GAAP and hotel accounting standards.
  • Track, log, and manage depreciation of hotel assets. Maintain accurate records and support long-term capital planning
  • Monitor daily cash flow, deposits, and reconciliations (Opera PMS, Clover, and banking). Enforce cash-handling policies and strengthen internal control practices across departments.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits. Ensure compliance with state, federal, and industry-specific financial regulations, while maintaining readiness for audit reviews.
  • Oversee preparation of financial reports for ownership, management, and external auditors.
  • Assist with annual budget preparation and rolling forecasts. Partner with department managers to ensure alignment of financial planning with operational goals.
  • Administer Opera PMS and QuickBooks integration. Identify and implement improvements in expense tracking, reconciliations, and financial reporting processes.
  • Apply and deepen knowledge of hotel accounting processes, including F&B revenue reconciliation, night audit, deposits, contracts, and group billing. Ensure compliance with USALI standards.
  • Oversee purchasing and asset management processes, ensuring proper authorization, cost control, and accurate tracking of hotel assets and inventory.

Qualifications

  • High School or equivalent education required.
  • Minimum 2–4 years of progressive accounting and/or revenue management experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Proficiency with Opera Cloud, PMS/POS systems, channel managers, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, forecasting, and internal controls.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing business needs.

Preferred Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Hotel Management, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • Multilingual abilities (Korean) a plus.
  • CPA designation or progress toward certification.
  • Experience in hospitality accounting, reservations, and collective bargaining agreements (CBA).
  • Knowledge of union payroll processes, service charge distribution, and hotel financial practices.
  • Familiarity with OTA platforms, booking engines, and travel industry distribution.
  • Proven leadership skills with ability to mentor and develop both accounting and reservations team members.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to sit, review detailed financial and booking reports use a computer.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours to respond to business needs.
