The opportunity

Delaware North is seeking an experienced and strategic Procurement Category Manager to oversee the categories of foodservice equipment, smallwares, operational supplies, and related services (including MRO, uniforms, laundry, and linen). Based in Buffalo, NY, this role is integral to our Procurement team and is responsible for driving value, efficiency, and innovation within assigned categories. The Category Manager will serve as a knowledgeable expert, developing and executing category strategies that support Delaware North’s operational and financial objectives.

Pay

Minimum – Anticipated Maximum Base Salary: $81,900 – $110,600 / year

In addition to base salary, we offer an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based, uncapped sales incentive plan. The advertised pay range represents what we believe at the time of this job posting, that we would be willing to pay for this position. Only in special circumstances, where a candidate has education, training, or experience that far exceeds the requirements for the position, would we consider paying higher than the stated range. What will you do?

  • Lead the creation and implementation of comprehensive category strategies for foodservice equipment, smallwares, operational supplies, and services by assessing operational needs, analyzing market trends, and applying industry insights.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including culinary, operations, facilities, and finance—to align procurement initiatives with business requirements and ensure consistent program delivery across all operating locations.
  • Partner with category stakeholders and the strategic sourcing team to identify opportunities for spend consolidation, supplier rationalization, and SKU optimization, aiming to deliver cost savings and increased value to Delaware North.
  • Negotiate terms and conditions that are consistent with company goals, standards, and ethics, while delivering the best overall value to the operating locations.
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with key suppliers, fostering partnerships that drive continuous improvement, innovation, and compliance with contract terms and corporate policies.
  • Serves as a key team member to support the implementation of business strategies through advanced procurement initiatives and team alignment.
  • Develop, evaluate, and prioritize ideas on new ways to grow the business through partnerships and cooperative deals that drive revenue and improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Adhere to ethical procurement practices, including compliance with corporate and departmental policies and procedures as well as federal, state, and local regulations.

More about you

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply chain, finance, accounting, economics, or related field required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a procurement role with category management experience.
  • Knowledge of the hospitality industry and supplier management a plus but will consider other industries
  • Strong negotiation skills with experience negotiating commercial terms and service level agreements.
  • The ability to interact with executives and stakeholders at all levels of the organization and deliver effective presentations.
  • Strong financial acumen with consultative, analytical, and problem solving skills. 
  • Excellent communication skills including presentation and relationship management skills
