The opportunity

Delaware North Parks and Resorts is hiring a full-time Maintenance Technician Plumber to join our team at the Kennedy Space Center in Merritt Island, Florida. As a Maintenance Technician Plumber, you will be responsible for performing all facets of facility maintenance installation, replacement, repairs and preventative maintenance on buildings, equipment and systems. Along with utilizing your plumbing specialty for special projects, you will work on utility water lines, drains, associated systems, and equipment. What will you do?

  • Perform installation, preventive, and repair maintenance on various building equipment and systems, including major food service equipment and electrical components. 
  • Diagnose malfunctions, determine repair needs, and conduct repairs on building equipment and controls. 
  • Perform construction, plumbing, painting, and carpentry operations as directed, including installation or replacement of floor and ceiling tiles, doors, drywall, and temporary facilities. 
  • Secure loose molding, base, and trim, perform roof repairs, and inspect roofs, floors, and walls as directed. 
  • Properly handle and dispose of refrigerants and cylinders, maintaining required records for shipping and transportation. 
  • Drive a company vehicle around property to job sites, as needed.

More about you

  • Must be at least 21 years old to apply. 
  • High school graduate or GED required, completion of apprenticeship or technical school is preferred. 
  • Minimum of 5 years of verifiable professional plumbing experience, additional experience in other disciplines is desired. 
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and associated software. 
  • Requires a valid Florida driver’s license, reliable transportation and ability to obtain a NASA badge. 
  • Certifications including electrical journeyman’s license, Universal Refrigeration Certification, certified public pool service technician, and EPA refrigerant technician preferred.  

Physical requirements

  • Requires working several feet above the ground on ladders, scaffolds, roofs, or high lift. 
  • Requires the physical equivalent of exerting effort or lifting and carrying or manipulating of materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. 
  • Requires working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, the presence of heat, dirt, dust, noise, fumes, wetness, paint, and solvents. 
  • Utilize a variety of tools and equipment, including hand and power tools, plumbing tools, generators, forklifts, and man lifts.
