Dishwasher / Steward

Job Summary

The Dishwasher/Steward is responsible for the cleaning of cooking utensils, service ware and cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen and dock area.

Responsibilities

• Wash dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, and pans using dish machine and other kitchen cleaning equipment.
• Place clean dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment in storage area.
• Sweep and mop all kitchen floors at the end of shift and after a spill.
• Sweep and mop all walk-in coolers, freezers, service areas and dry storage areas.
• Thoroughly clean dish machine.
• Clean and empty all trash cans in kitchen and assigned areas and place in designated pickup areas.
• Thoroughly clean the loading dock and dumpster area.
• Maintain kitchen work area, equipment, and utensils in a clean orderly condition.
• Assist with keeping the storeroom organized and clean.
• Clean kitchen equipment such as steam tables, carts, fryers, ovens, and grills.
• Follow the proper procedures in the breakdown, cleaning and reassembling of all kitchen equipment as needed.
• Assist with the storage of deliveries and food rotation.
• Notify supervisor of any malfunctioning equipment or unsafe conditions.
• Practice safe work habits, wear protective safety equipment and follow MSDS and OSHA standards.

Skills

• Ability to communicate effectively in English.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
• Ability to push, bend, reach, stoop, kneel and lift at least 50 pounds.
• Must be able to work harmoniously with co-workers and supervisors.
• Ability to withstand temperature variations both hot and cold.
• Ability to work flexible shifts to include days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Previous stewarding experience a plus
