The opportunity

Delaware North Parks and Resorts is hiring a full-time Environmental Coordinator to join our team at the Kennedy Space Center in Merritt Island, Florida. As an Environmental Coordinator, you will be responsible for assisting with environmental programs including the environmental management system and regulatory programs. If you enjoy working with people from diverse backgrounds, like a fast-paced job, and seek hands-on learning, our Parks and Resorts team invites you to apply today.

What will you do?

  • Support resource planning efforts by assisting management in operational needs. 
  • Assist with environmental studies, reports, and initiatives related to contamination and sustainability efforts. 
  • Contribute to the development of procedures, handbooks, and internal guidelines to support environmental compliance objectives. 
  • Prepare, maintain, and distribute environmental communications, records, and reports to ensure accurate documentation. 
  • Manage hazardous and controlled waste processes, including labeling, inspection, manifesting, and regulatory record keeping. 
  • Ensure compliance with state, federal, and NASA environmental standards through proper handling and tracking practices. 
  • Drive a company vehicle as needed. 
  • All other duties as assigned by manager. 

More about you

  • Must be at least 21 years old to apply.
  • Must have a valid Florida driver’s license with a clean driving record required. 
  • Associate degree required, bachelor’s degree preferred.  
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret basic engineering information and terminology. 
  • Must be familiar with federal and state safety regulations and practices in compliance with OSHA, DOT, EPA, FDEP, and other regulatory agencies. 
  • Experience with record keeping for auditing purposes. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and related software. 
  • Experience in a collective bargaining environment or federal facility preferred. 
  • This position requires site-specific waste management training, including initial RCRA hazardous waste management training and SPCC oil-handling training, within six months of assignment.

Physical requirements

  • Must be able to work in inclement weather, hot and humid conditions and in the presence of dust and fumes. 
  • Must be able to work for long periods of time to support scheduled special events. 
  • May be required to move containers in support of environmental programs.
