JOB OVERVIEW:

As a Four Diamond property, The Westin Anaheim Resort is committed to delivering an elevated, refined, and highly personalized guest experience. The Bartender is more than a bartender this role is a performer, curator, host, and experience creator who sets the tone for the resort's energy and atmosphere from the moment guests arrive. As one of the resort's most visible and guest-facing positions, the Bartender is expected to create a magnetic and memorable bar experience through confident hospitality, elevated cocktail execution, product knowledge, and genuine guest engagement. This role requires a polished hospitality professional who thrives in a fast-paced luxury environment while maintaining strong attention to detail, urgency, and composure under pressure.

Bartenders are responsible for executing high-level craft cocktails, delivering beverage-forward experiences, maintaining a pristine and organized bar environment, and creating meaningful guest interactions that drive guest satisfaction, repeat business, and beverage revenue. The ideal candidate brings energy, personality, professionalism, and a passion for hospitality, cocktails, and luxury service standards.

Responsibilities & Service Expectations

  • Deliver elevated, personalized, and engaging service aligned with Four Diamond standards
  • Create memorable guest experiences through confident interaction, hospitality, and beverage craftsmanship
  • Prepare and execute cocktails, spirits, wine, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages with precision and consistency
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of classic cocktails, modern mixology techniques, spirits, beer, wine, ingredients, and flavor profiles
  • Maintain full bar readiness before, during, and after service
  • Requisition, stock, organize, and maintain all liquor, beer, wine, garnishes, glassware, juices, syrups, and bar supplies based on business levels and operational needs
  • Prepare all fresh juices, garnishes, infused ingredients, and cocktail components daily to ensure quality and consistency
  • Maintain complete awareness of bar flow, guest pacing, ticket times, and overall operational execution
  • Drive beverage sales through curated recommendations, pairings, upselling, and guest engagement
  • Maintain a clean, polished, organized, and visually refined bar environment always
  • Ensure all service stations, wells, coolers, and storage areas remain stocked, clean, and operational
  • Follow all cash handling, check control, and closing procedures accurately
  • Support servers, barbacks, food runners, and leadership to maintain seamless service execution Respond professionally and calmly in high-volume or high-pressure situations
  • Assist leadership with maintaining guest satisfaction and resolving service opportunities when needed
  • Support rooftop and outlet operations when business demands require additional assistance
  • Maintain all health, sanitation, EcoSure, HACCP, and responsible alcohol service standards
  • Adhere to all federal, state, local, and company liquor laws and policies regarding alcohol service

Development Expectations

  • Actively study and demonstrate knowledge of cocktail recipes, ingredients, and preparation methods 
  • Develop a strong understanding of spirits, beer, wine, and bar operations 
  • Observe, learn, and replicate proper bartending techniques and service standards 
  • Demonstrate initiative, consistency, and readiness to take on increased responsibility
  • Curate an energetic, elevated, and experience-driven bar atmosphere that reflects the identity of the resort and outlet.
  • Drive sales and guest engagement through intentional recommendations, premium spirit knowledge, cocktail storytelling, and personalized service

Safety & Sanitation Standards

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free bar environment always 
  • Immediately address spills, broken glass, and unsafe conditions
  • Follow proper lifting and handling procedures when moving kegs and heavy items
  • Ensure all service pathways remain clear, safe, and unobstructed 
  • Properly handle and store all glassware, tools, and equipment 
  • Follow all chemical handling and sanitation protocols
  • Report all safety concerns or incidents immediately to management

Availability & Scheduling Expectations

  • Full-time team members are required to maintain open and flexible availability based on business demands. Schedules are assigned according to operational needs, and specific shift or day preferences cannot be guaranteed 
  • Part-time team members must maintain availability for a minimum of three (3) shifts per week 
  • Weekend availability is mandatory, including Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, as well as all holidays
  • Availability must remain consistent for a minimum of six (6) months
  • Any changes to availability must be submitted in advance and are subject to Department Head approval

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Previous experience in luxury hospitality, upscale cocktail bars, nightlife venues, or high-volume luxury environments preferred
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Strong sense of urgency and ability to perform under pressure
  • Ability to multitask while maintaining organization and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Demonstrated interest in bartending and professional growth
  • Professional, reliable, and service-oriented demeanor
  • Understanding of sanitation and alcohol service standards

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job it will require:

  • Must be able to tolerate temperature changes from hot to cold and cold to hot.
  • Must be able to tolerate noise and vibration and a variety of physical conditions such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, working on scaffolding and high places.
  • Sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl occasionally.
  • Frequently, use hands for keyboard and arms to reach.
  • Must be able to exert physical effort in transporting 100 pounds, endure various physical movements throughout the work areas, reach up and down, remain stationary at times throughout work periods, and satisfactorily communicate with guests and co-workers to their understanding.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment with continuous movement
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull items weighing up to 50 pounds regularly
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions including shaking cocktails, lifting glassware, stocking product, and preparing garnishes
  • Ability to safely handle glassware, ice, cutting tools, and bar equipment

Additional Requirements

  • Minimum of 2-3 years in a full-service hotel, restaurant or high-profile bar.
  • Strong working knowledge of craft cocktails, spirits, wine, beer, and mixology techniques.
  • Previous luxury hotel, Four Diamond, or high-profile restaurant/bar experience preferred
  • Must be able to walk and stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Must possess a high level of high-quality standards & organization
  • Complete knowledge and understanding of the service industry, policies and procedures to include sanitation.
  • Food Handler's Certification required
  • TIPS or Responsible Beverage Service certification required/preferred
  • Strong understanding of sanitation, alcohol service laws, and service industry standards 
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays 
  • Professional appearance and polished service presence required
  • Ability to remain composed and professional under pressure
