Job Description

The Room Attendant is responsible for maintaining clean, comfortable, and welcoming guest rooms in accordance with Hyatt brand standards. This position plays a vital role in creating an exceptional guest experience by ensuring guest rooms and assigned areas are properly cleaned, sanitized, organized, and stocked.

Room Attendants are expected to provide attentive service, demonstrate attention to detail, and support Hyatt Regency Indianapolis' commitment to cleanliness, safety, and hospitality. The ideal candidate is dependable, guest-focused, and takes pride in delivering high-quality work in a fast-paced hotel environment.

Responsibilities 

Guest Room Cleaning

  • Clean and service assigned guest rooms according to Hyatt brand standards and departmental procedures.
  • Make beds, change linens, dust furniture, vacuum floors, and clean bathrooms.
  • Replenish guest room supplies, amenities, linens, and towels.
  • Ensure all room features, fixtures, and equipment are functioning properly and report maintenance concerns promptly.
  • Inspect completed rooms to ensure cleanliness, presentation, and guest readiness.

Guest Service

  • Interact with guests in a professional, friendly, and courteous manner.
  • Respond promptly to guest requests and communicate concerns to leadership as appropriate.
  • Support Hyatt's commitment to providing exceptional hospitality and guest satisfaction.

Safety and Sanitation

  • Follow all cleaning, sanitation, and infection prevention procedures.
  • Safely operate housekeeping equipment and utilize cleaning chemicals according to established guidelines.
  • Maintain compliance with hotel safety standards and OSHA requirements.
  • Report safety hazards, damaged property, lost and found items, and security concerns immediately.

Teamwork and Productivity

  • Meet established productivity and quality standards.
  • Work collaboratively with housekeeping, laundry, engineering, front office, and hotel leadership teams.
  • Assist with special cleaning projects and deep cleaning assignments as directed.
  • Maintain housekeeping carts, storage areas, and supply rooms in an organized manner.

Documentation and Communication

  • Accurately report room status updates and cleaning progress.
  • Communicate maintenance issues, guest concerns, and service requests to the appropriate departments.
  • Complete required departmental documentation and reporting.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous housekeeping, hotel, hospitality, or custodial experience preferred but not required.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality standards.
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, reach, stoop, and twist for extended periods.
  • Ability to push and pull housekeeping carts weighing up to 100 pounds.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions throughout the workday.
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures and environments throughout the hotel.
  • Ability to safely use cleaning equipment, chemicals, and housekeeping tools.

Additional Information

  • Flexible schedule required, including weekends, holidays, and varying shifts based on business needs.
  • Must maintain professional appearance and grooming standards in accordance with Hyatt policies.
  • Must complete all required Hyatt and hotel training programs.
