Founded in 1962, Grossman Company Properties is a multigenerational real estate development, investment, and management company focused on hospitality. We currently own and operate a portfolio of eight projects in Arizona and California and intend to grow thoughtfully over time.

Summary of Position

The Director serves as the Owner's Representative, leading multiple design and construction projects and project teams with limited supervision from the Executive Vice President and direct interaction with various Senior Managers and the Owner of the organization.

Qualifications:

Education

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required; degree in engineering, project management, real estate development, construction management, architecture, or a related field strongly preferred.

Experience

  • At least 10 years of directly related experience.
  • Hospitality and/or owner's representation experience is required.

Skills

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the design and construction process from an owner's perspective.
  • Ability to manage strategic priorities and project details while holding internal and external teams accountable.
  • Strong business judgment in strategic planning, resource allocation, project management, issue resolution, and decision-making.
  • Knowledge of applicable local and state construction and environmental laws and regulations.
  • Ability to work independently, respond quickly, and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, presentation, and negotiation skills across design, engineering, accounting, operations, and other disciplines.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and travel to out-of-state projects as needed.

Essential Functions:

  • Manage a portfolio of concurrent projects in multiple locations as the Owner's Representative, overseeing design, construction, budgets, schedules, closeout, and warranty.
  • Serve as a hands-on player/coach by leading project managers while directly managing assigned projects.
  • Partner with the Ownership Team and consultants to plan and evaluate renovations, expansions, and new construction.
  • Support the selection and coordination of architects, engineers, designers, contractors, and other consultants.
  • Develop and maintain project budgets and schedules; identify and communicate risks to cost, quality, and completion; update budgets through conceptual, schematic, design development, and construction document phases.
  • Apply knowledge of construction means and methods, building types, estimating, scheduling, cost control, and material pricing to guide project decisions.
  • Establish and manage financial and document controls, including project expenses, invoices, budget changes, and change orders; report regularly to the Ownership Team.
  • Train, manage, and hold staff accountable for results consistent with company standards.
