As a Marketing Strategist, you’ll support digital and traditional marketing and advertising efforts of Grand Casino, helping to build a best-in-class center of excellence for Grand Casino. You’ll support the delivery of multiple marketing projects across web, app, email, SMS, social, paid media, and traditional channels, managing scope, schedule, KPIs, and quality along the way. You’ll provide ongoing strategic consultation and superior partner support that elevates our brand, attracts Guests, and moves business goals forward.

What You’ll Do

Brand + Marketing Strategy

  • Work with property leadership to ensure traditional and digital campaigns, online content, and social media collateral align with an overall brand strategy designed to attract Guests and build both awareness and organic engagement.
  • Collaborate with property leadership and make recommendations on how best to increase market share and seize upon emerging digital opportunities.
  • Collaborate with property marketing departments to develop new media strategies based on business goals and marketing programming, presenting briefs on emerging opportunities and new media.
  • Support traditional media planning and public relations efforts that complement the digital ecosystem.
  • Provide ongoing strategic consultation and responsive support to internal partners, translating their business objectives into channel-level plans.

Digital Content + Social Media

  • Support the creation of marketing materials for email, app, landing pages, and other web platforms to drive traffic and promote our offerings, services, and experiences.
  • Build and execute social media strategy through research, benchmarking, messaging, and audience identification.
  • Create consistent and meaningful content on all social media platforms and implement social media marketing plans and editorial calendars.
  • Act quickly and gracefully to resolve Guest complaints or criticism posted on social media, escalating as appropriate.

Search + Analytics

  • Manage SEO tactics including keywords, page titles, strategic naming, metadata, and local search optimization for enterprise businesses.
  • Provide subject matter expertise regarding digital analytics, social media, and search engine optimization.
  • Create detailed reporting of Guest and marketing data, delivering regular, actionable insights on channel and conversion performance.
  • Create detailed reports of sitewide Guest behavior, navigation behavior, and potential user-experience improvements, and recommend changes based on what the data shows.

Team Leadership + Development

  • Directly supervises the Digital Content & Email Specialist, Social Media Strategist, and Social Media Specialist, assigning and balancing workload across campaigns, channels, and deadlines.
  • Sets clear priorities and quality standards for the team, reviewing work to ensure brand consistency, accuracy, and timely publication across all channels.
  • Provides ongoing coaching and feedback, conducts performance conversations and annual reviews, and builds individual development plans that strengthen bench depth across digital and traditional channels.
  • Partners with Talent on recruitment, selection, and onboarding, and addresses performance or conduct concerns promptly and consistently with the corrective action process.
  • Approves schedules, time records, and time-off requests in accordance with department and enterprise guidelines.
  • Creates a team environment where Associates feel supported, informed, and equipped to do their best work.

Collaboration + Project Delivery

  • Manage the scope, schedule, KPIs, and quality of assigned marketing projects, leveraging technology to increase efficiency through effective project management.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships that support effective working partnerships with Associates and leaders at all levels, across multiple departments, properties, and enterprises.
  • Align work with Mille Lacs Band traditions and interests as appropriate, and collaborate across boundaries to achieve common goals.
  • Serve and develop others by building relationships, and contribute to a workplace where inclusion and individual differences are valued.
  • Perform other departmental duties as assigned to contribute to the overall success and efficiency of the team.

What You Bring

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and directly related experience will be considered.
  • Experience: Three (3) or more years of paid digital marketing and social media experience and three (3) or more years of traditional marketing experience.
  • Leadership: Two (2) years of experience leading or supervising others required. Qualifying experience may include formal supervisory roles, team or project lead assignments, or leadership experience gained through community, tribal, military, or volunteer organizations. Demonstrated ability to coach and develop others, deliver constructive feedback, and manage competing priorities across a team.
  • Analytics: Three (3) or more years of data-driven analysis, usage of analytics dashboards, and reporting tools, with the ability to interpret results and take action to increase the effectiveness of digital media campaigns.
  • Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with Salesforce Marketing Cloud. Strong familiarity with the business applications of social media and digital ad platforms (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Google Ads, LinkedIn, and similar). Proficient in Search Engine Optimization (SEO) best practices. Experience with technologies and best practices for email, SMS, web design, web production, and creative design across multiple platforms and channels.
  • Skills: Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects with competing demands and deadlines. Solves complex problems with creative flair and big-picture thinking, uses knowledge of the business and business environment to turn data into insight, influences others to translate vision into action, and demonstrates drive for continued personal and professional growth.
  • Preferred: Experience in casino gaming, hospitality, entertainment, resort, or another highly regulated, Guest-focused, multi-channel environment.
  • Licensing: Must be able to secure and maintain a license from the Gaming Regulatory Authority (GRA) and follow all Detailed Gaming Regulations (DGRs).
  • Preference: Mille Lacs Band Member and American Indian preference will be exercised in the hiring process.

Success Measures

  • Campaigns and content across web, app, email, SMS, social, paid, and traditional media are on brand, on schedule, and aligned to enterprise business goals.
  • Internal partners receive responsive consultation, clear briefs, and well-reasoned recommendations they can act on.
  • Channel, conversion, and site behavior reporting is timely, accurate, and used to improve campaign performance.
  • Social presence is active, consistent, and Guest-centered, with concerns addressed quickly and appropriately.
  • Search visibility and organic engagement grow measurably for the enterprise brands supported.

Physical Requirements + Work Environment

  • Hybrid schedule. Position supports Grand Casino Mille Lacs, Grand Casino Hinckley, and other MLCV enterprises, with travel between properties and other business locations as required.
  • Work is primarily sedentary and includes frequent use of computers and mobile devices, extended periods of sitting and viewing screens, and frequent communication with Associates, Guests, and Strategic Partners. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.
  • Work requires periodic standing, walking, and movement throughout casino and resort facilities to review content, signage, and on-property execution, and occasional lifting of materials up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
  • Work may involve exposure to indoor casino environments, including noise, smoke, crowds, and varied lighting, as well as outdoor elements during events or content capture. Availability for occasional nights, weekends, and holidays as business needs require.
