Job Summary

The Engineer III is the senior technical resource within the Engineering technician structure, responsible for advanced diagnostics, complex repairs, and operational support across resort building systems, rooms, and equipment. The role provides technical leadership and mentoring to Engineering colleagues, coordinates specialized contractor work, leads resolution of complex technical issues, and may serve as Engineer on Duty when assigned.

Job Duties & Functions

  • Respond to guest room maintenance calls and lead the resolution of high-priority or complex technical issues affecting guest comfort, safety, or resort operations.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting, diagnosis, repair, and operational support across HVAC/VRV, refrigeration, electrical, plumbing, pools, fountains, automation/control systems, and other building systems.
  • Take the technical lead on complex faults that cannot routinely be resolved at Engineer I or Engineer II level.
  • Train, mentor, and provide technical guidance to Engineers I and II and other Engineering technicians.
  • Serve as Engineer on Duty when assigned, taking ownership of shift maintenance operations, emergency response, and operational continuity.
  • Lead or support technical response to building-system failures and urgent maintenance incidents.
  • Maintain and verify accurate records of PPM, repairs, inspections, maintenance activities, and parts used.
  • Coordinate and supervise specialized contractors and third-party vendors performing technical maintenance or repairs.
  • Monitor use of spare parts, tools, and maintenance materials and support effective inventory control.
  • Support Engineering leadership with special projects, major repairs, technical assessments, and general building upkeep.
  • Provide technical support to resort operations and collaborate with other departments to minimize disruption and maintain the guest experience.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to safety by following all company safety policies and applicable OSHA standards, using required PPE, reporting hazards, and promoting a culture of safety throughout the team.

Education & Experience

Candidates Must Meet At Least One Of The Following Qualification Pathways

Pathway 1: High school diploma or equivalent and at least 7 years of progressively responsible facilities, Engineering, or skilled-trade experience, including advanced technical responsibility.

Pathway 2: Recognized technical or trade qualification in Engineering, HVAC, electrical, mechanical systems, refrigeration, controls, plumbing, or a related discipline and at least 5 years of progressively responsible relevant experience.

Pathway 3: Associate or bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline and 3-5 years of progressively responsible technical experience.

Regardless of qualification pathway, candidates must demonstrate advanced diagnostic capability and advanced competency in at least one major technical discipline. Previous experience providing technical guidance or coaching to other technicians is preferred.

Luxury hotel or resort experience is preferred.

Relevant technical or trade certifications appropriate to the role and specialty are required where applicable and otherwise advantageous. EPA, CPO, HVAC, electrical, refrigeration, controls, or equivalent certifications may apply. OSHA 10 or equivalent safety training is required or must be completed as assigned.

Working Conditions & Environment

Work is performed throughout the resort, including guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house spaces, plant and mechanical rooms, rooftops/elevated areas, and exterior areas. The role may involve exposure to Cayman heat and weather, noise, vibration, dust, fumes, chemicals, oils, complex mechanical and electrical systems, HVAC/refrigeration equipment, emergency situations, contractor work areas, and work at height. Appropriate PPE and established safety procedures must be followed at all times.

Physical Requirements

Ability to perform the full range of physical technical work required to inspect, diagnose, and repair building systems, including standing, walking, climbing, balancing, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and reaching; pushing and pulling; accessing plant, mechanical, and elevated work areas; safely using tools and equipment; and lifting and moving objects weighing 50 lbs. or more, with or without reasonable accommodation.
