JOB PURPOSE STATEMENT

Reporting to and directly supporting the Director of Sales, Hilton Sydney’s Assistant Director of Sales assists leading the hotel’s pro-active and group sales teams, managing all sales activities, creating and executing strategic plans to achieve hotel targets, forming new and maintaining existing relationships, and developing talent within the commercial team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership

  • Support leadership of the team in line with Hilton’s global Promise to our Team Members – in absence of Director of Sales, take leadership responsibility for team.
  • Develop talent within the team and continue to grow the team’s overall competencies.
  • Address performance challenges in a supportive, timely and decisive manner.
  • Support recruitment and selection of the Sales and Groups team.

Hotel Strategy and Management

  • Support in the design of the hotel business strategy.
  • Collaborate with and support commercial leadership team to achieve relevant key indicators.
  • Actively promote the hotel and support by providing advice, support, and training to Front Desk and F&B team members.
  • Fully contribute to and drive the design of hotel business strategy.

Sales

  • Acquire, develop and grow key accounts.
  • Develop relationship and coordinate activity plans with all relevant global/regional sales offices.
  • Ensure that measurement systems are in place to track the production of all targeted accounts.
  • Ensure attendance at all major travel shows and client events.

Conference & Events, Outlets

  • Support commercial leadership team when establishing strategies and procedures.

Revenue Management

  • Support analysis of competitors’ activities and pricing strategy, and fair market share.

Budget and Fiscal

  • Assist Director of Sales in producing the budgets and forecasts, and review of expenses.

Maintenance of systems and procedures

  • Maximise the use of systems and maintain accuracy of all reservations and other data.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of uses/applications of all sales and revenue management systems.
  • Undertake all reviews of standards & procedures as necessary.

General

  • Work within all pre-set budgetary limits.
  • Comply with all company policies.
  • Comply with all systems and procedures as laid down by the Commercial Director and Hilton Worldwide.
  • Ensure Hilton Brand Service standards are consistently met and practiced by all team members.
  • Any other duties assigned by the Commercial Director

THE PERSON – QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • A team leader, with a passion for customer service and commercial results.
  • Self-motivated and able to work effectively without constant supervision.

  • Outstanding team player.
  • Strong commercial acumen, with experience in drafting and managing budgets/revenue proposals; analysing and forecasting results/market segments and rates
  • A demonstrated ability to conduct detailed analytics of revenue and propose strategies to address any concerns
  • Minimum three years’ experience in a similar role and tertiary qualifications.
  • Previous experience in event sales/management, with innovative sales initiatives delivery techniques.
  • Strong selling and lead management skills, and an understanding of closing the sale.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, while multi-tasking and delivering work on time.
  • Ability to meet and conduct effective site inspections of the Hotel and facilities.
  • Ability to work productively despite multiple interruptions.
  • Exceptional stake holder management skills to manage multiple stakeholder expectations.
  • Culturally aware and flexible.
  • A high level of interpersonal skills in both oral and written communication.
  • Committed to delivering a high level of customer service.
  • Excellent grooming standards.
