Role Overview: The Assistant Manager of the Splash Safari Water Obstacle Course is a key leadership role within the Activities Department. You are responsible for the development, implementation, and daily oversight of our premier in-lake adventure on Lake LBJ. This role requires a blend of operational excellence, financial stewardship, and high-level hospitality, ensuring that our team of Supervisors, Lifeguards, and Attendants delivers a safe, professional, and "Above and Beyond" experience for all members and guests.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Operational Leadership: Oversee the efficient daily running of Splash Safari programs and special events. Ensure all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are up-to-date, strictly adhered to, and aligned with resort safety protocols.
  • Team Development: Hire, train, and mentor staff using interactive, hands-on training methods. Foster a productive and positive atmosphere, ensuring all associates are cross-trained as "outside concierges" with deep knowledge of the resort.
  • Guest Relations: Act as the primary point of escalation for guest concerns or complaints, resolving them immediately and effectively. Maintain a "Problem Seeker" mindset to identify and solve issues before they affect the guest experience.
  • Financial Management: Assist with budgeting, purchasing, and cost control. Review weekly schedules and adjust staffing levels according to occupancy and budget guidelines. Ensure daily financial reports and member charges are accurate and secure.
  • Program Innovation: Continuously research and implement new ideas and programs to keep the Splash Safari experience fresh and competitive. Work with the Events department to provide accurate quotes and preparation for group outings.
  • Facility Oversight: Ensure the work area is pristine and all specialized equipment is in proper working order. Coordinate with Maintenance and IT departments to resolve facility issues promptly.
  • Security & Confidentiality: Ensure all guest information is handled securely and that all daily financial records are maintained with the highest level of integrity.

Employment Standards:

  • Education & Experience: A four-year college degree in Education, Recreation, or a related field is preferred, combined with at least two years of experience in pool or water-based venues.
  • Certifications (Required): Must be 18+ years of age with current Lifeguard, Water Park, CPR, and Community First Aid certifications.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word) and a typing speed of 40 wpm. Familiarity with UltiPro software is a plus.
  • Soft Skills: Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills, with a deep understanding of hospitality etiquette and cultural differences.
  • Professionalism: Must maintain a superlative professional image, adhering to all Horseshoe Bay Resort and Crescent dress code standards.

Physical & Mental Requirements:

  • Physical Stamina: Must be physically fit and able to work outdoors in various temperatures and weather conditions.
  • Strength: Regularly lift 25 lbs; frequently lift up to 50 lbs; occasionally assist in team-lifting up to 100 lbs.
  • Mobility: Required to sit/stand, walk/run, reach, stoop, kneel, and crouch as part of daily lakefront operations.
  • Safety Mindset: Must be intimately familiar with all emergency plans and be able to act decisively during an incident.
  • Schedule: Seasonal Full-Time (40+ hours per week) including weekends, most holidays, and some nights.
