Resort Facilities Maintenance Engineer – Carpenter (Hourly)

Job Summary

Horseshoe Bay Resort is seeking a skilled Carpenter to join the Facilities Maintenance Engineering team. This role is responsible for the construction, repair, and preventative maintenance of buildings, guest areas, outlets, and common spaces across the resort. The Carpenter ensures all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable codes, policies, and standards.

Essential Job Functions

Carpentry and Construction

  • Construct, install, and repair structural and finish carpentry elements using wood, plywood, drywall, wallboard, and related materials.
  • Perform framing, drywall installation, sanding, trim work, cabinetry, counters, partitions, ceilings, floors, doors, baseboard, hardware, locksets, hinges, and door closers.
  • Execute finish carpentry with attention to detail and quality standards.
  • Perform demolition of walls, ceilings, cabinets, and related structures as required for renovation or repair projects.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, sketches, and verbal instructions.

Maintenance and Facilities Support

  • Perform general building maintenance and repairs across guest rooms, offices, outlet spaces, common areas, and grounds.
  • Complete resort outlet general repairs and support renovation projects.
  • Perform a wide range of utility and building maintenance functions.
  • Assist other skilled trades as needed, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire alarm, and building automation systems.
  • Support preventative maintenance programs and multi‑project coordination.

Safety and Equipment Use

  • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines, including OSHA standards.
  • Safely operate hand and power tools, including saws, drills, sanders, jointers, and planers.
  • Properly use ladders, scaffolding, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Maintain clean and safe work areas.

Communication and Teamwork

  • Communicate effectively with engineering staff, management, vendors, and suppliers.
  • Work independently while managing time, priorities, and multiple work orders.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records as required.
  • Provide guidance and assistance to less experienced team members as needed.

Required Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of journey‑level carpentry experience in a commercial, industrial, or facilities environment, or five (5) to seven (7) years of carpentry‑related experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in finish carpentry, drywall, framing, doors, and hardware installation.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
  • Knowledge of carpentry tools, materials, and safety practices.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and workmanship standards.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
  • Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying conditions.

Work Schedule

  • Full‑time schedule; flexibility to work weekends, holidays, or extended hours as operational needs require.

Compensation

  • $27.00 per hour with scheduled performance reviews.

Qualifications

Two (2) to three (3) years of focused experience installing and repairing doors, frames, locksets, hinges, door closers, cabinetry, trim, baseboards, flooring, and ceilings using hand and power tools.

    At least three (3) years of hands‑on experience performing building maintenance, renovations, and repairs in occupied facilities, including guest areas, offices, outlets, and common spaces, with adherence to safety and quality standards.

  • Required

    3 years:

    Minimum of three (3) years of journey‑level carpentry experience in a commercial, hospitality, resort, industrial, or facilities maintenance environment performing framing, drywall, finish carpentry, and general building repairs.
