Hotel with 82 Rooms
Managed By Practice Hospitality
General Manager — voco South Tampa – Tahitian Inn Lead the Next Chapter of a Tampa Original
Full-Time
A Tampa original is getting ready for its next chapter. Opening in early 2027, voco South Tampa – Tahitian Inn is reimagining one of the city's longtime independent hotels as an 82-room, fun-loving, retro-cool destination. Part of IHG's voco brand and managed by Practice Hospitality, the hotel will pair the personality and history of the Tahitian Inn with the reach of a global hospitality brand. We're looking for a General Manager who can bring that combination to life.
This is a role for a hotel leader who likes to be in the middle of things. You'll lead the hotel through its transformation and opening, build and inspire the team, establish the culture and operating rhythm, and then run the property as a highly visible, hands-on GM. You'll also be one of the hotel's most important ambassadors. We want someone who enjoys getting out into Tampa, building relationships, making connections and creating reasons for locals as well as travelers to discover the hotel.
What You'll Do
  • Lead the Opening: Guide the hotel through pre-opening and conversion, working closely with ownership, Practice Hospitality, IHG and project partners to ensure the property is operationally and culturally ready to welcome guests.
  • Build the Team and the Culture: Recruit, develop and lead a talented opening team. Create a workplace where people feel trusted, supported and excited to deliver memorable hospitality.
  • Be the Face of the Hotel: Build meaningful relationships throughout Tampa's business, tourism, hospitality and neighborhood communities. Be comfortable representing the hotel at events, meetings, sales calls and community gatherings.
  • Drive the Business: Take ownership of the hotel's financial performance. Work closely with sales, marketing and revenue management to grow occupancy, ADR, F&B revenue and market share while keeping a sharp eye on costs and profitability.
  • Make F&B Matter: Treat food and beverage as more than an amenity. Help create outlets and experiences that give Tampa locals a reason to walk through the door and hotel guests a reason to stay awhile.
  • Stay Close to the Guest Experience: This is an 82-room hotel, and we want a GM who sees that as an advantage. Be present in the lobby, around the pool, in the restaurant and wherever the action is. Know what's happening and step in when you're needed.
  • Bring the Brand to Life: Deliver voco standards and IHG requirements while protecting what makes this particular hotel distinctive. The goal isn't to make the Tahitian Inn feel like every other hotel. It's to make it the best version of itself.
What We're Looking For
  • Significant hotel leadership experience, including experience as a General Manager or senior operations leader
  • Pre-opening, hotel conversion or major renovation experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with IHG or another major branded hotel system preferred
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen
  • Demonstrated ability to drive sales and revenue, not simply manage operations
  • Strong food and beverage experience and instincts
  • A track record of recruiting, developing and retaining great teams
  • Comfort networking, presenting and representing a hotel publicly
  • Knowledge of Tampa and established relationships in the market are a significant plus
  • An entrepreneurial mindset and willingness to roll up your sleeves
  • Genuine enthusiasm for independent-minded hotels with personality
Why This Role
You'll have the opportunity to help reinvent a Tampa hotel with decades of history rather than opening something that could exist anywhere. You'll have the resources and distribution of IHG behind you, the personality of the voco brand to work with, and the support of Practice Hospitality as you build a hotel that feels distinctly of its place. Most importantly, you'll have the chance to put your fingerprints on it from the beginning. If you're energized by building teams, creating culture, growing a business and turning a familiar hotel into somewhere people are excited to discover again, we'd like to meet you.
