About the Role

The Clayfield is a new 102-room luxury boutique hotel in Niagara-on-the-Lake and part of the Unbound Collection by Hyatt. Operated by Urgo Hotels & Resorts Canada, The Clayfield delivers a highly personalized, refined guest experience grounded in calm luxury, craftsmanship, and a strong sense of place.

The Sales Manager plays a key role in driving revenue by developing new business, building client relationships, and converting sales opportunities across assigned market segments. Reporting to the Director of Sales, this position manages the sales process from initial inquiry through contracting, including qualifying opportunities, conducting site inspections, negotiating agreements, and developing relationships that generate repeat and referral business.

This role is ideal for a motivated, relationship-focused sales professional who enjoys connecting with clients, uncovering opportunities, and showcasing a distinctive luxury hotel experience.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage assigned market segments, accounts, and inbound sales opportunities, including meetings, groups, and guest room blocks.
  • Respond to and qualify leads received directly by the hotel, through Hyatt sales channels, third-party platforms, referrals, and other sources.
  • Proactively identify and pursue new business through outbound sales including prospecting, client outreach, networking, and relationship development.
  • Prepare customized proposals and quotations that effectively position The Clayfield and its guest rooms, meeting spaces, dining, and experiences.
  • Conduct client appointments, presentations, site inspections, and property tours.
  • Negotiate guest room rates, meeting room rental, food and beverage minimums, concessions, and other terms within established guidelines.
  • Prepare contracts and manage opportunities through the sales process from initial inquiry to signed agreement and turnover to the Events team.
  • Identify opportunities to maximize total hotel revenue through guest rooms, suites, meeting space, food and beverage, and ancillary experiences.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, meeting planners, travel professionals, and other business partners to encourage repeat and referral business.
  • Maintain accurate account, activity, lead, booking, and pipeline information within hotel and Hyatt sales systems.
  • Work collaboratively with Revenue Management, Events, Food & Beverage, Front Office, Reservations, and other hotel teams to ensure a seamless client experience.
  • Participate in sales meetings, networking events, trade shows, client events, and other business development initiatives as required.
  • Meet or exceed established sales activity, revenue, and production goals.

Market Responsibilities

Specific market assignments will be determined based on hotel business needs and may evolve over time. The Sales Manager's portfolio may include inbound/One-Stop opportunities, corporate meetings and retreats, guest room blocks, association and social groups, catering, weddings, leisure groups, and other assigned accounts or market segments.

What You’ll Bring

  • 3+ years of experience in hotel sales, catering, events, or a related hospitality sales environment, ideally within an upscale or luxury hotel.
  • A proven ability to build relationships, understand client needs, and convert opportunities into confirmed business.
  • Strong sales and negotiation skills, with the confidence to present proposals, discuss rates and terms, and ask for the business.
  • A proactive approach to prospecting, business development, and growing existing accounts.
  • Strong organization, attention to detail, and follow-through, with the ability to manage multiple opportunities and deadlines.
  • Professional and engaging written and verbal communication skills.
  • Confidence conducting client meetings, presentations, and site inspections.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with hotel sales and property management systems such as Envision and Opera, or similar platforms is an asset.
  • Previous Hyatt experience is highly sought after, with familiarity with Hyatt sales systems, processes, and brand standards considered a strong asset.
  • A hands-on, team-first mindset and genuine enthusiasm for hospitality and creating exceptional client experiences.
