Job Overview:
The Houseperson (Houseman) at Encore Hospitality plays a vital support role within the housekeeping department, ensuring the cleanliness, organization, and overall presentation of guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces. This position supports housekeeping operations by maintaining supplies, assisting room attendants, and responding promptly to guest and operational needs. The Houseperson contributes directly to guest satisfaction by helping maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming hotel environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Public Area & Back-of-House Cleanliness:
Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of public areas including lobbies, hallways, restrooms, elevators, stairwells, and meeting spaces.
Clean and maintain back-of-house areas such as linen rooms, housekeeping closets, employee areas, and storage spaces.
Perform deep cleaning projects as assigned, including carpet cleaning, floor care, wall washing, and furniture cleaning.
Guest Room Support:
Assist room attendants by delivering linens, towels, amenities, and supplies as needed.
Remove soiled linens and trash from guest rooms and service areas.
Respond promptly to guest requests such as extra towels, bedding, rollaway beds, cribs, or amenities.
Operational Support:
Stock housekeeping carts, closets, and supply rooms to ensure adequate inventory throughout shifts.
Transport linens to and from laundry areas as needed.
Assist with room setup for special requests, group arrivals, or VIP guests.
Maintenance & Safety Awareness:
Identify and report maintenance issues, safety hazards, or damaged equipment to the appropriate department.
Ensure proper handling, storage, and use of cleaning chemicals and equipment in compliance with safety guidelines.
Follow all health, safety, and infection control procedures.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience:
Previous housekeeping, hotel, or custodial experience preferred but not required.
Experience in a fast-paced hospitality environment is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the property for extended periods.
Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs.
Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and climb stairs as required.
Flexibility to work varying shifts, including weekends and holidays.
Work Environment:
Fast-paced hotel environment requiring physical activity and attention to detail.
Indoor work primarily, with occasional outdoor tasks.
Frequent interaction with guests, staff, and other departments.
