We are seeking a highly energetic and experienced Business Travel Sales Manager to join the pre-opening Sales team of the first and flagship Canopy hotel in New York City.

Located in the heart of the Penn District, at the corner of 34th Street and 8th Avenue, this 365-room, design-forward lifestyle hotel will feature extensive food & beverage offerings and serve as a brand showcase for Canopy in NYC, steps from Madison Square Garden and Hudson Yards.

Reporting to the Director of Sales, the Business Travel Sales Manager will develop, manage, and grow the hotel's business transient segment. This position will play an important role in establishing the hotel's corporate account base prior to opening and building long-term relationships that drive room revenue, market share, and repeat business.

The ideal candidate is a proactive and relationship-driven sales professional with strong knowledge of the New York City business travel market, established prospecting skills, and a proven ability to identify, negotiate, and close corporate business.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve or exceed business transient room revenue goals.
  • Build the hotel's business transient account base during the pre-opening phase, identifying corporate accounts and organizations with strong potential for the Penn District location.
  • Solicit new and existing accounts through telephone prospecting, outside sales calls, presentations, site inspections, networking, and written communication.
  • Aggressively prospect and qualify new business opportunities within assigned market segments and geographic territories.
  • Develop relationships with key corporate travel managers, travel management companies, travel agencies, business travel partners, and local organizations.
  • Identify companies and organizations generating room-night demand within the Penn District, Hudson Yards, Midtown Manhattan, and surrounding New York City markets.
  • Negotiate corporate rates and agreements in accordance with the hotel's overall revenue and sales strategy.
  • Participate in the annual corporate negotiated rate and RFP process as applicable.
  • Manage assigned corporate accounts from initial prospecting through contracting, implementation, production, and ongoing account development.
  • Grow existing accounts by identifying additional contacts, departments, offices, projects, and travel opportunities.
  • Monitor account production and proactively address accounts that are not performing to expectations.
  • Develop strategic account plans to increase penetration, production, retention, and customer loyalty.
  • Maintain consistent communication and follow-up with prospective, tentative, and existing clients.
  • Prepare proposals, presentations, contracts, and other sales correspondence in accordance with company and brand standards.
  • Conduct hotel tours and site inspections for prospective corporate clients and travel partners.
  • Enter and maintain accurate account, contact, activity, and production information within the hotel's CRM and sales systems.
  • Partner closely with the Director of Sales and Revenue Management to evaluate demand, pricing, account production, market trends, and revenue opportunities.
  • Participate in weekly and monthly sales and revenue strategy meetings.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of the competitive set, including corporate rates, account activity, market positioning, and business travel trends.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with industry partners and organizations that can generate business for the hotel.
  • Attend networking functions, trade shows, client events, community events, and industry meetings to increase hotel visibility and generate leads.
  • Entertain clients and conduct sales appointments as appropriate based on account potential.
  • Collaborate with Front Office and Operations teams to identify in-house corporate travelers and potential new account opportunities.
  • Maintain a visible presence within the hotel and engage with business travelers to strengthen relationships, gather feedback, and identify opportunities for future business.
  • Serve as the primary sales contact for assigned corporate accounts and help ensure a personalized, high-quality experience for their travelers.
  • Partner with the broader Sales team to cross-sell opportunities across market segments and maximize overall hotel revenue.
  • Represent the hotel professionally in the New York City business and hospitality communities.
  • Follow all company and brand Sales and Catering policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Sales.

Essential Qualifications

  • Highly organized with excellent follow-up and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple accounts, leads, deadlines, and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to review account production and identify opportunities for growth.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and hospitality CRM and sales systems.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with Sales, Revenue Management, Front Office, Reservations, and Operations.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, results-oriented, and comfortable working independently in the market.
  • Professional presence and the ability to confidently represent the hotel to corporate decision-makers and industry partners.
