Job Summary

As a Public Area Attendant, you will be responsible for cleaning and maintaining the hotel’s public areas, including public bathrooms, the lobby, and back-of-house spaces such as employee bathrooms, locker rooms, and cafeteria areas. Your role ensures that all areas are cleaned according to company procedures and meet or exceed our high standards of cleanliness and presentation.

Essential Job Functions

This description is a summary of primary responsibilities and qualifications.  The job description is not intended to include all duties or qualifications that may be required now or in the future.  The Hotel operates 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, so operational demands require variations in shift days, starting times, and hours worked in a week.

  • Clean and sanitize public areas, including sinks, toilets, urinals, mirrors, tiles, counters, walls, stalls, vents, and floors, following cleaning procedures and safety guidelines.
  • Dust and clean furniture, pictures, and shelves, using proper techniques and equipment.
  • Polish metal surfaces, applying appropriate pressure to ensure a high standard of cleanliness.
  • Maintain cleanliness of ashtrays and empty trash bins as needed.
  • Assist with washing coffee mugs and drinking glasses to maintain cleanliness.
  • Ensure the lobby and front entrance are tidy, including removing trash and keeping floors clean.
  • Assist the Front Desk by delivering requested items such as towels, toiletries, etc., to guests.
  • Conduct daily parking lot walks to remove excess trash and maintain the hotel’s exterior.
  • Turn in all lost and found items, as well as guest room keys, to management.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including safety and security protocols.
  • Follow fire prevention, emergency procedures, and use protective equipment to ensure a safe environment.
  • Report unsafe conditions, accidents, injuries, or property damage to management immediately.
  • Maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance, as outlined in the team member handbook.
  • Perform related duties and assist other housekeeping personnel as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • No previous experience is required; training will be provided.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions and perform job functions with limited supervision.

Physical demands

  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent bending, twisting, and stooping when loading/unloading washers/dryers, sorting linen, and folding.
  • Continuous movement throughout the department, with standing required for the duration of the shift.
  • Frequent walking, talking, hearing, seeing, and smiling.
  • Ability to extend arms, scrub, bend, stoop, and walk public areas for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks with stamina and endurance, maintaining a high level of energy.
