The F&B Manager is responsible for supporting the successful daily operation of Hyatt Regency Indianapolis' food and beverage outlets, including restaurants, lounges, and in-room dining. This position provides hands-on leadership to ensure exceptional guest experiences, consistent service and quality standards, effective colleague performance, and strong financial results. The F&B Manager is an active and visible leader who works alongside colleagues throughout daily operations, builds meaningful connections with guests, and partners with culinary and hotel leadership to deliver memorable dining experiences. ResponsibilitiesGuest Experience & Service
- Maintain a visible leadership presence within food and beverage outlets and actively engage with guests and colleagues.
- Ensure guests receive welcoming, attentive, and professional service consistent with Hyatt standards.
- Respond promptly and professionally to guest questions, concerns, and service issues.
- Provide appropriate service recovery and follow-up to resolve guest concerns and strengthen guest satisfaction.
- Monitor guest feedback and identify opportunities to continually improve the dining experience.
- Build relationships with repeat guests and support a welcoming environment that encourages guest loyalty.
Restaurant Operations
- Oversee daily restaurant, lounge, and in-room dining operations to ensure efficient and consistent service.
- Monitor opening, closing, and shift procedures to ensure operational readiness.
- Maintain appropriate staffing and floor coverage based on business levels and anticipated demand.
- Partner with culinary leadership to maintain food quality, presentation, timing, and service standards.
- Ensure restaurant equipment, furnishings, service areas, and supplies are properly maintained.
- Support special events, promotions, holiday dining experiences, and other food and beverage initiatives.
Colleague Leadership & Development
- Lead by example by consistently demonstrating Hyatt service standards, professionalism, accountability, and care.
- Assist with recruiting, onboarding, training, coaching, and developing food and beverage colleagues.
- Provide timely feedback, recognition, and performance coaching to support colleague success.
- Conduct pre-shift meetings and communicate daily priorities, hotel activity, menu information, service expectations, and guest needs.
- Address performance, attendance, conduct, and workplace concerns consistently and in accordance with hotel policies and procedures.
- Foster a positive, collaborative, inclusive, and service-focused work environment.
Financial & Business Management
- Support achievement of departmental revenue, profitability, labor, and expense goals.
- Monitor labor and staffing levels in relation to business volume and operational needs.
- Assist with departmental budgeting, forecasting, purchasing, inventory, and expense management.
- Monitor food, beverage, and supply costs and identify opportunities to improve efficiency while maintaining quality.
- Ensure accurate cash handling, payment processing, revenue reporting, and financial controls.
- Review operational and financial performance and partner with leadership to identify opportunities for improvement.
Safety, Sanitation & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, health department, and responsible alcohol service requirements.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment for guests and colleagues.
- Ensure colleagues follow proper food handling, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures.
- Monitor responsible alcohol service and ensure compliance with applicable laws and hotel policies.
- Report and appropriately document guest or colleague incidents, accidents, injuries, property damage, and other safety concerns.
- Protect hotel assets by following established inventory, cash handling, key control, security, and loss prevention procedures.
Communication & Collaboration
- Partner closely with Culinary, Banquets, Stewarding, Engineering, Security, Front Office, Sales, Events, and other hotel departments to support seamless operations.
- Communicate operational concerns, guest needs, maintenance issues, staffing needs, and business priorities promptly and accurately.
- Participate in departmental and hotel leadership meetings as required.
- Maintain accurate operational documentation, reports, schedules, training records, and other departmental records.
- Support hotel-wide initiatives and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree in Hospitality, Business, Food & Beverage Management, or related field preferred.
- Three to five years of progressive food and beverage or restaurant experience preferred, including previous leadership or supervisory experience.
- Hotel, upscale restaurant, or high-volume food and beverage experience preferred.
- Strong commitment to hospitality and providing exceptional guest service.
- Demonstrated ability to coach, motivate, and develop colleagues.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and solutions-focused in challenging or high-volume situations.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Understanding of restaurant financial performance, including revenue, labor, inventory, and expense management.
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and responsible alcohol service practices.
- Comfortable learning and utilizing point-of-sale systems, scheduling systems, Microsoft Office applications, and other hotel technology.
- Food safety and responsible alcohol service certifications must be obtained and maintained as required by applicable law and hotel policy.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
- Ability to move throughout restaurants, kitchens, storage areas, guest areas, and other operational areas of the hotel.
- Ability to frequently bend, reach, stoop, and perform other physical movements associated with restaurant operations.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 30 pounds as needed.
- Ability to work in environments that may include varying temperatures, noise levels, and high-volume service periods.
Additional Information
- Flexible schedule required, including mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and other shifts based on business needs.
- Travel may occasionally be required for training, task force assignments, or special projects.
- Must maintain professional appearance and grooming standards in accordance with Hyatt policies.
- Must maintain confidentiality of guest, colleague, financial, and hotel information.
- Must complete all required Hyatt, hotel, food safety, responsible alcohol service, and departmental training programs.
