Sushi Chef

What you will be doing

• Preparing traditional Japanese sushi rice
• Chopping, slicing, and filleting various kinds of fish
• Prepare and create a variety of sushi dishes according to recipes and customer preferences.
• Ensure the quality and presentation of sushi dishes meet the highest standards
• Customizing customers’ orders according to preferences and food allergy considerations
• Preparing and creating traditional Asian dishes, such as sushi rolls, sashimi, nigiri, rice, and sauces
• Keeping a clean work environment to prevent food contamination
• Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies as needed
• Adhere to food safety and sanitation regulations in handling and preparing sushi ingredients

The ideal candidate for this position

- Previous experience working for 2+ years
- Proven ability to prepare and cook sushi dishes with precision and attention to detail
- Knowledge of different types of sushi rolls, sashimi, nigiri, and other traditional Japanese dishes
- Familiarity with menu planning, including creating new sushi recipes and incorporating customer preferences and has strong communication skills interacting with customer on daily basis.
- Strong understanding of kitchen operations, including food preparation, handling, and service
- Excellent knife skills handling fresh whole fish
- Ability to work well as part of a team and communicate effectively with other kitchen staff
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required

Job Types: Part-time, Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 24 – 40 per week
