Position Summary

The Mechanic Engineer is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and supporting the hotel’s mechanical systems, equipment, and facilities to ensure a safe, comfortable, and luxurious environment for our guests and team members.

This position performs preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and general engineering duties throughout the hotel. The Mechanic Engineer is expected to respond promptly and professionally to guest-room and operational maintenance requests while maintaining the high standards expected of a luxury hotel.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventive maintenance and repairs throughout the hotel.

• Inspect, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair mechanical equipment and building systems.

• Respond promptly to guest-room maintenance requests and engineering work orders.

• Perform basic plumbing repairs, including faucets, toilets, drains, fixtures, valves, and related equipment.

• Perform basic electrical troubleshooting and repairs within the scope of the position.

• Maintain and repair HVAC-related equipment and assist with heating and cooling issues.

• Repair and maintain hotel equipment, fixtures, doors, locks, furniture, and other building components.

• Conduct routine inspections of guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house areas, mechanical rooms, and equipment.

• Identify equipment or building conditions requiring repair and immediately report significant concerns to Engineering Management.

• Complete assigned preventive maintenance according to the hotel's established schedule.

• Maintain accurate records of completed work orders, inspections, repairs, and preventive maintenance.

• Assist outside contractors and vendors when necessary.

• Maintain engineering work areas, shops, and mechanical rooms in a clean, organized, and safe condition.

• Follow all hotel safety procedures, OSHA requirements, fire and life-safety procedures, and applicable building regulations.

• Follow proper procedures when handling tools, chemicals, equipment, and hazardous materials.

• Respond appropriately to hotel emergencies, including equipment failures, leaks, power-related issues, and other building emergencies.

• Communicate professionally with guests and team members and minimize disruption when completing repairs in occupied or public areas.

• Protect guest privacy and hotel property while working in guest rooms.

• Perform additional engineering and maintenance duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Previous building maintenance, mechanical, engineering, or facilities experience required; luxury hotel experience strongly preferred.

• Working knowledge of mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and general building maintenance systems.

• Ability to diagnose mechanical problems and complete repairs safely and efficiently.

• Ability to read and understand equipment instructions, safety procedures, and preventive maintenance documentation.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining luxury hospitality standards.

• Professional communication and guest-service skills.

• Ability to work independently as well as part of the Engineering team.

• Ability to prioritize multiple work orders and respond appropriately to urgent situations.

• Must be dependable and able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergency situations as required.

Physical Requirements

The position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, kneeling, climbing, and working in various areas throughout the hotel. The Mechanic Engineer must be able to safely use ladders, hand tools, and maintenance equipment and perform the physical functions necessary to complete assigned engineering duties, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Work Environment

The Mechanic Engineer works throughout guest rooms, public spaces, back-of-house areas, mechanical rooms, and other hotel facilities. The position may involve exposure to varying temperatures, noise, mechanical equipment, and other conditions normally associated with hotel engineering operations.
