Job Description
The Purchasing Manager is responsible for overseeing all purchasing activities for the hotel. This includes sourcing and procurement of goods and services, inventory management, vendor relationships, and cost control. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the hospitality industry, excellent negotiation skills, and a keen eye for detail.
Responsibilities
- Procurement and Sourcing:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive purchasing strategy to ensure optimal pricing, quality, and delivery.
- Identify and source reliable suppliers and vendors.
- Negotiate contracts and purchase orders to achieve the best possible terms.
- Maintain a strong vendor network and build long-term relationships.
- Inventory Management:
- Implement and manage inventory control systems to optimize stock levels.
- Monitor inventory levels and reorder supplies as needed.
- Conduct regular inventory audits to identify discrepancies and loss.
- Cost Control:
- Analyze purchasing data to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Implement cost-reduction strategies, such as bulk purchasing and vendor consolidation.
- Monitor market trends and adjust purchasing strategies accordingly.
- Quality Assurance:
- Ensure that all purchased goods and services meet quality standards.
- Establish and maintain quality control procedures.
- Resolve any quality issues with suppliers or vendors.
- Financial Management:
- Prepare and analyze purchasing reports and budgets.
- Monitor spending and identify areas for cost reduction.
- Ensure compliance with purchasing policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in hospitality management, business administration, or related field.
- 5+ years of purchasing experience in the hospitality industry.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Proficiency in purchasing software and systems.
- Knowledge of procurement laws and regulations.
- Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Additional Skills (Preferred)
- Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) certification.
- Experience with sustainable procurement practices.
- Knowledge of food and beverage procurement.
